Your comment in another post reminded me of something that came up in a game. I had a halftrack in a woods that was 1.5" in from the edge of the woods (edge being very clearly defined)... and it got shot by an M18 from about 12" away from the woods.

I thought that the 2" spotting was ONLY between 2 stands that are both in the same woods OR that to spot a stand IN the woods from outside the woods, then the distance needed to be 2" or less.

Or if my stand were on the EDGE of the woods then it would be spotted as a normal concealed item.

Is this all right?

(I LIKED that halftrack and miss it!)

You have the rules correct, the halftrack shouldn't have been fired at.

On another hand, a halftrack being destroyed by an M18... I mean, were you playing ACW 1944? Laughing

Bill,

Your halftrack should have been safe. LOS is 2 inches inside a wood, but if you are outside the wood, you can only see stands on the edge.

I guess you were talking about a German halftrack, but I have this (bad?) habit to use the word "halftrack" only when refering to the US M3 halftrack (and its derivatives). I call the German ones by their SdKfz 25x designation. Thus I was imagining a US TD firing on a US AFV and an American Civil War in 1944... Shocked

Oh! Sloppy jaloppy lingo on my part, buddy! Smile

PS BTW I tried out my improved German pronunciation of what we as kids used to call Sood Kuhfuz... and curious to see if I was better now, found the following site: http://www.forvo.com/word/sonderkraftfahrzeug/
