Chouigui Pictures

Dave and I played this battle on 4/5/15 at the Dunstable Generals Club. Dave had command of the Germans and I played the Allies

1st Battalion 1st Tank Regiment east of Chouigui. Mostly Matchbox M3s

Chouigui and its environs. B Company 10th Rifle Brigade can just about be seen on the road by the village

Close up of B Company 10th Rifle Brigade and C Company 1/1 Armor.

10th Rifle Brigade AT guns covering the area west of Chouigui. Airfix 6pdr and Zveszda 2pdr.

KG Luder starts its attack south towards the village. Tiger is a repainted diecast, the SdKfz-10/4 is a hybrid of different manufacturers and the PzKfw-III is a Matchbox conversion.

KG Hudel approaches the US tanks around Chouigui. Airfix PzKfw-IV and Matchbox PzKfw-III

1/1 armoured starts to take casualties from KG Hudel. However what can't be seen is this pic is the fact that they have managed, somewhat surprisingly, to kill a PzKfw-IV

KG Hudel falls back shaken. This was the first of Dave's series of three 10's thrown for morale

6pdr gets lucky and nails the Tiger. Remember the the Tiger is "Green" but the 6pdr still needed a 10 to penetrate.

KG Hudel, once rallied, re-enters the fray

17/21st Lancers enter he battle, passing the M4 MMC of 1/1st Armored and Blade force HQ. M4 MMC is a detailed Hasegawa model. The Crusader is Hasegawa also. Valentines are MMS with the closest being Fujimi

6th Derbyshire Yeomanry moves up to bravely confront the panzers.  In the top of the pic the Lancer's recce is also moving forward. The Humber is the wrong mark, this being a Cromwell models Mk IV, The Daimler is Hasegawa

Things are starting to look desperate for the Allies. /1st Armored is all but annihilated and the German infantry has destroyed 10 Rifle Brigade.

Same scene taken from the east

LG Luder tries a sneaky outflanking manoeuvre in the west

Having dealt with the Americans KG Hudel pushes south. However their poor morale rolls have left tem behind schedule and time is tight

The Lancers move to stop KG Hudel. However they are spread woefully thin as they need to stop KG Luder as well.

The Lancers confront KG Luder

Things look desperate for the allies

The RAF turns up and strafes the German Infantry

The British defence crumbles. However the Germans only have a couple of turns to evict the British from the olive grove to the south.

6th DY rush back to occupy the olive grove

The last of the Allied tanks. The HQ of 1/1 Armored is demoralised and going nowhere

The Luftwaffe make a belated and rather ineffectual appearance

The end. Although 1/1 Armored's half track is still in the grove, the game goes to the extra turn and there is no way it will survive the German onslaught.

It was a great game, which despite the Allies getting overwhelmed as a tight match and the time limit is very strict. In the end it was a definite German victory
